The home opener!

After all the wait, all the previews, all the predictions, a mid-summer pow-wow and an odd side-trip to Sweden, we're finally here.

Opening night for the 10th Anniversary Season of the Columbus Blue Jackets.

I so badly want to be in attendance, but grad school says otherwise.  But don't let that stop you folks.  As of 12:30PM, it appears that there are a few good seats still available, so you have no excuse NOT to be there (and get the free 10th Anniversary t-shirt on the way in - and 10th Anniversary poster on the way out!):

As for the game itself, Chicago comes limping into town with their cap-torn roster diminished even further by the absence of Patrick Kane (illness), Brian Campbell (injury) and Niklas Hjalmarsson (stupidity). Marty Turco, who hasn't won against the CBJ in three years, is in net for the 'hawks.  I know the CBJ isn't a bunch of world-beaters right now, but the combination of the home opener excitement and a wounded opponent makes me optimistic for the game.

For those not in attendance, remember to tune in to Fox Sports Ohio at 6:00 PM for a special hour-long "Blue Jackets Live" pregame show.  (Set your DVR's, folks!)

The puck drops at 7:00 PM.  Like you didn't already know.

Let's close this out with Skraut's video that put The Lost Season of 09-10 to bed yet offered us so much optimism for 10-11.  It's good to remember but even better to hope:

Carry The Flag, everyone!
